Roads Design Engineer
A vacancy exists in the Buffalo City office for a Roads Design Engineer to commence duties in the Transport Sector as soon as possible

Requirements:
· B.Eng or B-Tech in Civil Engineering
· Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng registration
· More than 10 years’ experience in the roads sector, specifically in the planning, design and construction of national, provincial and municipal roads
· Good technical knowledge and experience
· Experience in full project spectrum from inception to construction
· Experience in pavement and materials engineering, including road surfacing
· Must be able to network with relevant stakeholders at a senior level
· Computer literate in MS office is essential; MS Projects preferable
· Ability to speak Xhosa an advantage
· NQF 7 qualification for EPWP projects an advantage
Main Responsibilities
· Capacity building of the Design unit
· Project management of the unit’s projects
· Road planning, design and tender documentation
· Provide sound technical solutions and support to the Design unit
· Assess Design unit’s capabilities and review its organisation
· Review available resources and identify future needs
· Monthly progress reports and statistics
· Quality control on projects
· Report to PP and PM and stakeholder liaison
· Develop Eastern Cape’s pavement engineering capacity
